JUNGHANS 666 ASTRO-QUARTZ 1974
Here we have the first German Quartz - the Junghans AstroQuartz 666. It's an early piece from the second generation (666.02) made in 1974 with large rod-quartz by Motorola. The build is a bit complex but the quality is more than extraordinary as could be expected from this West-German maker. This model is pretty rare and very collectible due to the large cosmic design and back-set crown.
Early stepping motors must have been slightly unstable as many of the early quartz watches have backlash pawl fingers to prevent the second hand to jump backwards. This 666 calibre has the same solution visible in the close up picture...with a jewel on the tip.
